Developing creative design alternatives to reduce construction costs has been George Kirschmann’s goal since founding his company, George H. Kirschmann, Architect, in 1990. For over 18 years, George H. Kirschmann, Architect has built its reputation on creativity, hard work and superior customer service. “I am creative and resourceful and I like to do a variety of different projects,” Kirschmann explains. “Most importantly, I am always willing to go all out for our clients to make sure they are completely satisfied.”

Kirschmann began his career at Clemson University, graduating with a pre-architecture degree in 1974. He completed his master’s degree in 1977 at Washington University in St. Louis, and by 1981, Kirschmann was a registered architect in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Kirschmann quickly established himself in the Triangle, working with several architectural firms. In 1990, when Kirschmann opened George H. Kirschmann, Architect, he immediately targeted his niche in the residential addition/renovation market. “I found that people wanted help with remodeling and additions to their home,” said Kirschmann, “but they could not find an architect willing to work with them. Therefore, I began to do a lot of smaller residential and commercial projects for a wide variety of clients.”

Today, almost 13 years later, Kirschmann’s business has evolved into working primarily on commercial projects. His company’s founding mission to offer quality, sustainable projects and to reduce construction costs through creative design alternatives--has remained the same. Kirschmann’s creativity, resourcefulness and desire to tackle different projects are evident in the variety of work he has handled during his career.

His project experience include: medical and clinical laboratories, warehouses, automotive maintenance facilities, urban office buildings, parking decks, retail store upfit, restaurants, daycare centers, space planning, building condition surveys, country clubs, an aircraft maintenance hangar and residential renovations. He has served as the project architect for several renovations at Duke University, including laboratory projects for the Duke University Medical Center.

He has also renovated and repaired several sites in Durham listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Kirschmann says his client base is evenly divided between Durham and Wake Counties. He targets Research Triangle Park companies, general contractors and developers through direct mailings, word of mouth advertising and networking.
